When asked 'What is Chrono Echoes?', the answer is a lot more than what I posted earlier. During the planning stage of Chrono Echoes, I decided on a lot of things to make the game better. I really want to challenge myself as a developer, and I want to challenge my team at what they do.
Some of my ideas won't get into the game due to technical limitations. Some ideas will get in, and then some. Even some of the concepts from Crimson Echoes that were removed due to the limitations of Temporal Flux will find their way here.
As a developer, I had two options for this game. I could either make it like Alter, with passable mapping and dialogue. I could use default spells, and no special coding. I could make the game the easy way. Or... I could enlist this amazing team that we have here and really make not just a great RPG Maker game, but a great game in general.
The story that Chrono Echoes tells is made up of 50% Crimson Echoes material, and the other half is original. Some events and characters were cut from Crimson Echoes. For example, Kasmir will make a cameo at best. The team never storms the Porre Lab. You get the idea.
However, a lot of things have been added that were not in Crimson Echoes. Schala is a fully playable character. There is a new villain. The opening includes a full dungeon and boss fight.
Another concept used in Chrono Echoes is some derisions are left to the player. For example, in Chapter 1 of Chrono Echoes, Crono is given to the choice to chase the Porreans or let them leave. This decision determines which dungeon you go to. One small decision could affect the entire game.
We wanted to give the played the feeling that they are Crono. You can control how Crono feels and thinks. Once you finish the game, go back and make different choices. See what would have happened had you made a different decision.
One last thing. I am very proud of this team. I want to thank ALL of you for your hard work, and we've only finished Chapter 1.
Thanks, everyone! Fans and Staff alike!
